This week I felt much better from the onset of the race as it was warmer, no rain and no wind. Contrary to what most people hear I can on good days do more laps than the temperature is in degrees C!
The race was a fairly high pace and it was steady as there was no wind which generally made for an excellent standard of riding as the pace didnt differ much. There were the odd attacks and breakaways but nothing really worth getting in on the band wagon with or nothing really worth chasing from the looks of things.
My moment of glory for the week ended up as I would expect it as I knew I’d blow if I went for the prime lap – ill do anything for the money!!! I decided to attack and try go for a long one on hte prime lap and so attacked going out of the bottom u bend corner. I managed to have a good kick and get a reasonable gap immediatley as I would expect as I have a good turn of explosive speed being a fast twitcher………….
Anyway I managed to last and hold off the bunch until the last corner before the start finish straight and the hill so atleast I made a few people have to work hard to get me back in time even though I didn’t get the prime and blew up as expected after that maximal effort of 198bpm! It took me a lap out to recover and get back in the bunch as I could not hold on to the speed of them when they caught me. If i’d not attacked I would have quite hapily sat in the bunch all day and done pretty much nothing so feel better for having at least tried in a do or die fasion!
This week I had a better week on the bike – yes weather related as always and with it being generally far better than the last 2 weeks managed a nice 4 hour ride last weekend including box hill and a few of the dorking hills.
This week at work have been sending all sorts of flights out again from good old LHR and we have been doing our bit for global humanity in Haiti.
I am all for doing my bit for fellow humanity, the world as well as the environment. Sunday I’m going out on the Charloteville CC club run again if weather ok, Monday I’m collecting the team GB winter Olympic team athletes equipment so it can be sent in advance to Canada for the winter olympics, We are also using this as a distribution point to hand out their sponsors (adidas) kit, bags, polo shirts etc etc so should be a fun day to meet some great people.
As for recyling I’m all for it and I’ll leave you this week with some sauggestions on what you can do with your post race bath water to save on water! Yes lets wash our muddy shoes, gloves and overshoes in it all! Thank goodness i’m not married anymore as I guess the wife would be going spare over all the mess by now!
